New Duplication Service Queue for Bibles (No Due Date!)

Can the developers create a separate duplication queue for books we wish to duplicate for our patrons that they can keep indefinitely? Something that refrains from having a due date added to the bundle. This would be great for Bibles and other religious texts, cookbooks, and other reference works.

It'd also be a great way to use up these dust-collecting 1-2 gigabyte, mint green cartridges...!

I don't think a different Service Queue is likely the way to do this.

If you have the DTB Write Protect software to unlock the cartridges, you could manually create Bibles and other reference works as physical inventory--these could then be manually Assigned to duplication patrons via Book Search Results, and would not count towards their NS Cutoff. The holding of the title records would let you set those items as being for indefinite loan.

Less manual solutions to this have been discussed before, and I'm sure will be discussed again. If anyone else out there A) needs a solution to this, or B) already has a workflow for this that is meeting your needs, please share!

Hi there, in Florida, we have duplicated the files of free versions from outside organizations, like Braille Bibles International, as well as downloaded titles and multiple versions of sacred texts from the collection. We have the new Living Translation, the King James version, the New International Version, and more. We offer English, French, Spanish, of the Bible, and the Quran in English and Arabic. We have Bible study guides, dramatic versions, etc. that RAs will mail out to patrons. We tell patrons these titles are on extended loan for as long as they are active in the program. We use envelopes to mail them out and do not track them in KLAS besides a comment.
