According to the Operations Alert no. 09-36 (MARC records for current DB titles) from NLS, full MARC records are now available for the current DB titles. The full MARC records for the retrospective collection will be available soon.

Before these files can be downloaded and added to your system, there are a couple of set-up issues that need to be handled. These issues revolve around planning what your library system wants to get out of the full MARC.

To that end, the document linked below discusses parts of the MARC record, and in particular, compares the full MARC record to PICS. (Note, you must be a registered user to download this document.) Please take some time to look over this document and see what can be done to enhance your data.

Keystone will be sending out a questionnaire shortly, which we will use as a guide for setting up filters to govern the load the full MARC records for your library catalogue.
