Did you drive in?

The hotel is the Regency Suites Hotel, at 975 West Peachtree St NW, Atlanta, GA 30309.  The hotel has adjacent, covered parking that faces 10th Street.  Parking fees at the hotel are $18 per day and will be added to your room charges.

Did you fly in?

Anticipate a 30-minute trip time from the airport to the hotel.
(Estimated Taxi fare from Airport to Hotel $35 and 20 mins)

After arriving at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, the easiest way to get to the Regency Suites is to take the MARTA rapid-transit rail line to the Midtown Station.  The MARTA station is adjacent to the luggage pick-up area at the South Terminal.   Both the Red and the Gold lines stop at Midtown, with no transfers.  MARTA costs $2.50 for a ride.  There are fare-vending machines ahead of the entry gates.

When you exit the Midtown MARTA station, exit to the 10th Street gate and turn left.  The Regency Suites Hotel is on the same block as the MARTA station.  You will not have to cross the street!  Easy peasy, with a walk time of approximately two minutes.  The entrance to the Regency Suites Hotel is at the corner of 10th Street and West Peachtree.

Are you attending the pre-conference on Monday?

Anticipate a 15-minute trip time from the hotel to the Central Branch of Atlanta-Fulton Public Library.

The pre-conference will be held at Central Branch of the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library, One Margaret Mitchell Square, Atlanta, GA  30303, on the 4th floor.  To get from the Regency Suites to the Central Library, take MARTA from the Midtown station, 3 stops south, to the Peachtree Center Station.  Exit the Peachtree Center station at the gate marked for the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library.  You will ride a very, very tall escalator to the street.  The Central Branch is immediately across the street from the exit of the MARTA station.  Cross Carnegie Street and you will be standing on the library’s plaza.  Take elevators to the 4th floor. Signage in the building will point you to AMLAS- Atlanta Metro Library for Accessible Services (though we now call the talking book library GLASS Atlanta).  GLASS staff will be available to assist attendees in finding the meeting rooms on the 4th floor.

To return to the hotel, reverse your trip.  The Regency Suites are at the Midtown Station, take the 10th Street exit from the station and turn left, towards the hotel, which is on the same block as the train station.  Both Red and Gold lines stop at Midtown, with no transfers involved.

Getting from Regency Suites to AMAC/Tools for Life, the host venue

Anticipate a 30-minute commute from the hotel to the conference venue…but it’s fairly low stress.

The conference venue is AMAC/ Tools for Life at 512 Means Street, NW, Atlanta, GA  30318.  The Regency Suites are adjacent to the Midtown MARTA Station.  Georgia Tech operates a free trolley that runs from the Midtown Station throughout Georgia Tech Campus.  AMAC/Tools for Life is on the far western edge of Georgia Tech’s campus.  To board the trolley, exit the hotel, turn right and walk towards edge of the block on West Peachtree, then turn right towards the lower edge of the MARTA station.  The trolley picks up riders immediately in front of the Midtown Station on Peachtree Place.

Exit the trolley at the Georgia Tech Recreation Center.  After exiting the trolley, turn left on Ferst Drive, towards Tech Parkway.  Cross Tech Parkway.  Cross Marietta Street.  Ferst Drive becomes Means Street.  Proceed for about a block and you will be at 512 Means Street, the home of AMAC/Tools for Life.  Fair warning, the sidewalk literally ends!  But, by then you are very close to the building, and Means Street is not a heavily travelled road.

To return to Regency Suites, walk the route in the same path, but catch the trolley on the opposite side of the street, to avoid the final loop of the trolley’s circular route.  You will save a few minutes.  The trolley will take you back to the Midtown MARTA station which is on the same block as the hotel.

Final Day’s Outing to Center for Civil and Human Rights

Anticipate a 30-minute commute from the hotel to the Center for Civil and Human Rights.

The outing is a visit to the Center for Civil and Human Rights at 100 Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard, Atlanta, GA 30313.

Decide whether to check your luggage at the hotel or to bring your luggage to the GLASS library.  If you check your luggage at the hotel, you should build in time to return to the hotel to pick up your luggage before taking a trip to the airport.  If you bring your luggage to GLASS, library staff are willing to store your luggage in their offices.  But, please understand, you leave your luggage at the library—AT YOUR OWN RISK, strictly as a courtesy.  The library is along the walking path back to the train station.

There are numerous destination points near the Center for Civil and Human Rights, including the World of Coca-Cola, the Georgia Aquarium and the Atlanta Skyview.  If you plan to extend your stay, you may wish to consider purchasing a City Pass which provides entrance to serveral attactions.
